WOW airlines is so cheap, it'll make you say "WOW!" But this airline will also make you say wow in a bad way. No entertainment, wow! No wifi, not even a chance to buy it, wow! No included meals, no matter the length of the flight, wow! Not even an included beverage, WOW!!!!
This is perhaps the cheapest international airline, they are always a couple hundred cheaper than usual. They even have $99/$69 international flight deals! WOW airlines is an Icelandic airline so every flight goes through Iceland first. Your stop there can be anywhere from 25 minutes to 24 hours. (See my previous blog about my 16 layover in Iceland)
Like most airlines these days, they charge for checked bags ($48) BOTH WAYS!! And they also charge $29 both ways for a carry on. WOW! And the checked bag is only up to 20 Kg...that means 44 pounds (not 50 pounds like us Americans are used to). You are allowed one free (wow, finally something free!) personal item though, but it must fit underneath your seat.
TIP: Pay for a checked bag (its only $38 more than if you just bring a carry on, plus double the space for clothes) and bring a backpack full of snacks and water! Also, pay online for bags, its more expensive at check in.
PRO TIP: Get a seat in the BACK of the plane without having to pay for extra leg room. There are less seats in the back because of the shape, AND there are more empty seats in the back so you can spread out. Almost like first class! ;)
There is a small pro to WOW airlines though.....the plane itself is purple! The interior, exterior, and the flight attendants are (wearing) purple! It's very pleasing to the eye.
