Berlin, Germany

Berlin is a big city and is rich in history. There are many sights to see in Berlin!

We stayed at a "Moxy" hotel (owned by Marriott). These hipster hotels are all over the world have a very modern look and vibe to them. I liked this hotel but I prefer the classiness of the regular Marriotts over the hipster vibes of a Moxy.

The Berlin Wall was a short walking distance from our hotel. The wall was up August 13, 1961, to November 9, 1989 and was 96 miles long.

A must visit is the Holocaust Memorial. Underneath the memorial is a free entry museum to learn more in depth about the Holocaust. Each of the 2,711 blocks are different size and shape, not one is the same.

The "Berliner Dom" is in Berlin's cityscape and is surrounded by large grass areas where you can have a picnic while admiring this magnificent church. We did not go inside because it wasn't free (5 euro for students), I've seen enough churches to live without it!

Also near the main city, we went to see the "Charlottenburg Palace" (7 euro for students and 3 more euro if you want to take pictures). This wasn't the grandest palace I've seen, but a couple rooms inside the palace blew me away. Pictures really don't do them justice!!

TIP: Only one person can pay the 3 euro for picture taking (they give you a wrist band) and you can slip the wristband on and off to each other. Be careful, security is watching!

Some other popular sights we saw was the "Brandenburg Gate", "Berlin Victory Column," "Check Point Charlie," and the "Reichstag Building." All of these sights are less exciting to me and I just snapped a picture and was ready to go.

We wanted to go in the Reichstag Building but only a certain amount of people can go a day, you have to book it a day ahead of time but it's free.

One unique sight we saw was a giant "AquaDom" inside the Radisson Blu Hotel. It is a giant aquarium with an elevator going through it, I just had to see it!

It's tough getting in because there's a security guard at the entrance checking if you are a hotel guest. We were lucky and the guard was on a 5 minute break when we slipped in.

Was it worth my own personal hype? No, not if you've seen aquariums before.
