Horseshoe Bend and Antelope Canyon

If you live in Arizona and haven't been to either of these places, what are you doing with your life!? These landmarks and just as impressive as the Grand Canyon!

Both these beauties of nature are worth the drive and many foreigners even come across the world to see it! I've never seen so many foreigners in Arizona in my life, I was the only Arizona native in our tour group of 30 people.

There are two main lower canyon tours, (search upper and lower canyon tour images and choose which you'd like to see more, they are a mile apart), Dixie Ellis and Ken's Tours. Both are across the street from each other and are essentially the same tour and price.

I chose Dixie Ellis and my ticket was $35 for 1-1.5 hours. I booked a week ahead, anything shorter will probably sell out fast. We also arrived 45 minutes early and was bumped up to a sooner tour, which is nice so we don't have to wait around in the heat!

TIP: Schedule your tour between 10-noon, the sun will be at the highest point in the sky, making the sun beams look like golden rays.

YOU CANNOT GET INTO THE CANYON WITHOUT A TOUR GUIDE! This is the Navajo's reservation, they are VERY protective over it.

TIP: Your tour guide is a full native Navajo and is very knowledgable, ask them anything you'd want to know about the canyon! They also will show you the BEST spots to take some magical pictures.

Definitely wear close toed shoes (I'm talking to you, instagram "models") and bring water. You will need to climb up and down steep stairs so this place is only for the (mildly) physical fit.

The lower canyon is cooler because its underground so you might even need a jacket, depending on the time of year you visit. I went in September and it was a little hot at ground level but perfect inside the canyon.

WARNING: It will be super crowded and busy with bodies at the bottom of the canyon. There is tour after tour, waiting in a line to descend into the canyon. You will be rushed along by your tour guide, occasionally stopping for solo pictures.

Don't stop at just antelope canyon, Horseshoe bend is only a few miles away and its FREE! Woo! There is just a short hill to climb up.
