Lima has my heart. The vibes and beautiful coast line will easily make you fall in love too!
Accommodation:
We stayed in a standard Airbnb for $18 a night. Nothing special about it, but it was in a good area - Miraflores.
Things To Do:
1. Plaza de Armas
This is the main square in Lima and its beautiful! Good luck getting a solo shot next to the LIMA letters, parents don't control their ninos here.
2. Magic Water Circuit
Supposedly the largest fountain show in South America, but the one in Vegas is much more impressive. There's a bunch of little fountains instead of one big one. It's only $1.50 to get in though, so have at it!
3. Huaca Pucllana
Smack dab in the middle of the city, these ancient ruins are pretty cool. The entrance fee is only $3 and it comes with a free tour.
4. Faro de la Marina Miraflores
This is a beach walk along the coast. Go during sunset and you certainly won't regret it!!
5. Playa Senoritas
This is the closest, "nicest" beach to Lima. Although I wasn't that impressed, maybe because it was raining and took 2 hours in traffic to get there.
I suggest just going to the coast for the beach, it's rocky without sand but it'll do!
6. Day trip to Huachachina
Huachachina is definitely doable in 1 day. There's honestly not much to do here besides take the dune buggy and sand boarding tour. Take a bus here for about $20 roundtrip.
Huachachina in general is disappointing, you can't even swim in the water area and the town isn't very cute. We did the 2 hour dune buggy and sand boarding tour for $15 per person and it was a lot of fun!
7. Rap Battles in Kennedy Park
Kennedy Park itself is really nice and always bustling. We found out they have rap battles every night - we can't speak Spanish but it was very interesting and we went EVERY NIGHT!
We met the main organizer, a 20 year old kid with a lot of energy! He sells merchandise and is building his business from the ground up, we were impressed!
